The owner is a true plantsman so you will find many unusual plants in the nursery some may not even be on our web site as we grow new varieties all through the year. Please come and look around, we are pleased to take most credit and debit cards.
Most perennial Plants are cultivated with a Vine Weavel control and 12 month Slow Release Fertiliser. We also mix our own compost at the nursery so we can mix the soil to suit the plants which includes a dry, medium and wet compost mix. This means you won'tfind a plant in our nursery which likes well-drained soil growing in pure peat soil which has little chance of making it through the winter. This ensures our plants are sold to you in a healthy state giving them the best chance of healthy growth.
Southon Plants is a working nursery, that said we try to keep our access ways open and uncluttered for disabled access.
(SORRY WE NO LONGER DO MAIL ORDER)
You can order from the nursery for collection some deliveries will be available.
All our Hardy Perennial plants are sold
in 2 litre pots unless otherwise stated.
"A plantsman is one who loves plants for their own sake and knows how to cherish them. This… concept… may include a botanist: it certainly includes a host of admirable amateurs who may not know what a Molecule looks like or what it means, but they know the growing plant, wild or first-hand. To my mind they are the cream of those in the plant world, a fund of invaluable first-hand information."
